Refugio ISD participated in a preliminary meeting to explore an exciting opportunity for the Refugio community. Texas A&M University College of Medicine, Rural Medicine Program aims to tackle the rural healthcare shortage through K-12 outreach, clinical exposure, and community engagement.

Attending today's meeting were Corey Wasicek, CEO of Refugio County Memorial Hospital; Melissa Gonzales, Refugio ISD Superintendent; Jhilela Poynter, Refugio County Judge; Carol Brewer,  Texas A&M University School of Medicine Assistant Director of Rural School District Relations; Curtis Donaldson, Texas A&M University Director of Community Engagement - Rural Texas/Director of Rural Medicine Outreach; and Rebecca Lee, Texas A&M University Instructional Assistant Professor - School of Engineering Medicine
